Sustainability

The world's economy has become dependent on plastics, which(that) are polluting and destroying our only home. 3D printing is one of the rapidly growing industries that will, if not already, have a substantial negative impact on the environment.

The commonly used plastics, such as PLA and PETG, are neither recyclable nor biodegradable and end up in landfills, the soil, and the oceans.

The most commonly used plastic PLA is made from corn and sugar cane, often GMO, and is only biodegradable in commercial composting facilities. In the USA, it is often filtered out from the composing facilities and ends up in landfills.

Our vision at Moon House Cutters is to lower to a minimum the impact of our business on the environment and to use recycled and recyclable materials.

Packaging

Packaging and shipping materials are among the most significant contributors to pollution and enemies of our planet.
The mailer, printer labels, and printer label liners we use are made in the USA from 100% recycled and recyclable paper.
The inner packaging paper, Thank you card, and Thank you note are 100% recyclable.
Further, we will use an inkless thermal printer.
You can throw the entire shipping and packaging into the curbside recycle bin.

Product Materials

We decided on using PETG made in the EU because it is more robust and flexible, and it will last longer compared to similar products made from PLA.

Looking forward

We know that we could always do better regarding the environmental impact and caring for our planet.

Looking forward, we are working on using 100% recycled PETG.

To use less paper, the Thank you card and Thank you notes will be combined into one and made from 100% recycled paper and printed with algae ink.

Algae Ink is a revolutionary ink that utilizes algae cells for pigments making it more compatible with the recycling and composting process.
